What is this material

This ornamental thread from Gütermann is made from polyester, spun into a lustrous strand with a sturdy structure. The fibre gives off a natural sheen that makes your stitch catch the light on fabric, without the thread itself becoming fragile. The thread is designed to show, so the weight and finish are built for decorative stitching rather than invisible seams. Thanks to the polyester makeup, it holds up to washing and pressing, so your decorative stitch stays beautiful for years.

What you can use it for

This ornamental thread works for any project where you want the stitch to stand out.

• Decorative stitching on jackets and blazers
• Stitching buttonholes with a decorative touch
• Contrasting seams on bags and accessories
• Embroidery with bold stitches
• Decorative edge finishing on cushions and home textiles
• Quilting with visible stitch lines
• Reinforcing and finishing denim
• Leatherwork where a strong, shiny thread is needed
