What is this material

This ornamental thread is made from polyester with a distinct silk sheen, which makes the stitch really stand out in the light. The thread is spun thicker than regular sewing thread, specially designed to remain visible as a decorative element on your work. Because of its polyester composition, the thread is strong and resistant to breaking, even with intensive use on a sewing machine. The smooth finish means the thread glides easily through fabric and the needle without fraying or knotting. Gütermann has built its reputation on this kind of consistent quality over the years, something you'll notice straight away when you start stitching.

Uses and projects

This Light Brique ornamental thread lends itself to all sorts of decorative work where the stitch itself becomes part of the design.

• Decorative stitching on jackets and coats
• Stitching buttonholes with a clearly visible finish
• Decorative edging on pockets and cuffs
• Accent stitching on bags and leather goods
• Quilting with a contrasting or warm colour note
• Embroidery work where sheen and colour matter
• Finishing hems with a visible effect
• Decorative seams on interior textiles like cushions

In conclusion

With its warm brique tone and silky sheen, this ornamental thread makes a lovely addition to any sewing project where you want to add that little bit extra detail.
