What is this ornamental thread

This thread is made from polyester and specially developed for decorative stitches that stay visible on your needlework. The thread has a lovely sheen that resembles silk, but thanks to the polyester fibre it's much stronger and more durable in use. The thread is thicker than regular sewing thread, which means your decorative stitch really stands out on the fabric. Gütermann is known for the high tensile strength of its threads, so you'll have little trouble with thread breakage while sewing. The 30 metres on the spool is plenty for smaller ornamental stitch projects and finishing work.

Uses and Projects

Use Gütermann ornamental thread in Ecru for anything where you want to add a subtle yet visible accent. Think of:

• Ornamental stitching on collars and cuffs
• Stitching buttonholes
• Decorative borders on garments
• Topstitching on bags and accessories
• Hem finishing in lightweight fabrics
• Quilting with visible stitches
• Vintage and retro sewing projects in creamy tones
• Accent stitching on linen and cotton clothing

In closing

For this ornamental thread it's recommended to use a thicker needle so the thread runs smoothly through the fabric. Check out the rest of our Gütermann Ornamental And Button Hole Thread collection or discover more haberdashery in our haberdashery category for all your sewing needs.
