What is elastic edging ribbon

Elastic edging ribbon is a narrow, stretchy tape designed specifically to finish the edges of stretch fabrics without losing any give. The mix of polyamide and elastane keeps the ribbon supple and responsive, moving along with jersey, tricot, or other elastic materials. The tape comes already folded down the middle, so you simply lay your fabric edge inside and stitch it down. Because of its fine texture, the ribbon sits flat against the fabric without puckering or bunching. That's why it's a go-to choice for making underwear, swimwear, and activewear.

Uses and Projects

This 17mm petrol ribbon is thin enough for delicate work, yet strong enough to hold up over time. You can use this edging tape for:

• Finishing leg openings on briefs and boxer shorts
• Hemming the edges of bikinis and swimsuits
• Binding necklines and shoulder straps on jersey tops
• Giving athletic leggings and sports tops a neat elastic finish
• Finishing baby and kids clothes made from stretch fabric
• Neatly enclosing curved seams on jersey dresses and skirts
• Adding an elastic edge to homemade face masks or accessories
• Repairing and replacing worn-out elastic on existing garments
