What is elastic edging ribbon

Elastic edging ribbon is a narrow, stretchy band designed specifically to finish the edges of stretch fabrics without limiting the fabric's stretch. The polyamide and elastane blend keeps the ribbon supple and it moves with the fabric you're sewing it onto. This makes it much more comfortable to work with than traditional cotton bias tape when you're working with knits, jersey, or other elastic fabrics. The navy colour is subtle and works well with both dark and neutral fabrics without drawing attention. You'll notice the quality in how evenly the ribbon stretches along its entire length.

Uses and projects

This type of edging ribbon is commonly used to finish garments made from stretchy fabric. Think for example:

• Finishing necklines and armholes on T-shirts and tops
• Hemming leggings and sport trousers
• Edge finishing on underwear and swimwear
• Reinforcing and finishing baby and children's clothing
• Binding elastic skirts and dresses
• Finishing gym wear and dance costumes
• Decorative binding on knitted or elastic accessories
