Elastic Edging Ribbon Dark Grey 17mm

In the photo you'll notice straight away the fine structure of this edging ribbon: a crisp, lightly lustrous band in a deep dark grey shade that works with almost any garment colour. The band is pre-folded and stretchy, which you can see from the slight give in the roll. This dark grey is neutral enough to apply without drawing attention, yet has just enough depth to work beautifully as a visible detail too.

What is elastic edging ribbon

Elastic edging ribbon is a woven band with stretch, specifically made to finish the edges of stretch fabrics neatly without losing any recovery. The addition of elastane to the polyamide gives the band enough give to move with the fabric you're sewing it onto. That's what sets it apart from standard binding, which is often made from cotton and doesn't stretch. The band arrives pre-folded, so you simply fold it around the edge and stitch it down. You can spot quality by the even fold and the smooth yet sturdy finish.

This type of edging ribbon is essential for anyone working with stretch fabrics. Think about:

• Finishing leg openings on underwear and swimwear

• Neckbands on baby and children's clothing
• Necklines on jersey t-shirts
• Reinforcing seams on leotards and dance wear
