This Dark Red stretch flannel has that deep, rich wine tone that photographs so well but feels even better in your hands. The brushed surface gives it a soft, slightly fuzzy touch, almost like a worn-in favourite coat, while the folds in the fabric show off a lovely drape that falls in soft, rounded curves rather than stiff creases. It has that classic flannel look but moves with you thanks to the stretch woven in, which makes it a nice change from the more rigid coating fabrics you often come across.

What kind of fabric is this

This is a brushed flannel coating fabric with added stretch, made from a blend of polyester, viscose and elastane. The brushing process raises the surface fibres slightly, giving the fabric its soft hand feel and slightly matte, velvety look you can see in the close-up. The viscose content adds a nice fluid drape, while the elastane gives just enough give so the fabric moves with the body instead of fighting against it. It sits nicely between a classic wool coating and a softer, more forgiving stretch fabric, which makes it easy to work with on the sewing table.
