Belt webbing — also known as bag webbing, webbing tape or cotton webbing — is one of the most widely used haberdashery tapes in the fashion, bag and outdoor industries. Thanks to its woven construction, it is extremely strong, keeps its shape and hardly stretches, even under heavy load.

Cotton Belt Webbing 25mm

Soft cotton belt webbing, 25mm wide — made from 90% cotton and 10% polyamide for extra strength. Its natural look and pleasantly soft feel make it the ideal choice for fashion bags, shopping bags and eco-friendly projects. Available in black, natural and various colours.

Cotton Belt Webbing 40mm

Wider cotton belt webbing of 40mm — perfect for broad shoulder straps, belts and handles that require extra width and strength. The same soft, natural quality as the 25mm version, but with greater carrying capacity.

Polypropylene Belt Webbing 25mm

Robust polypropylene belt webbing, 25mm wide — made from 100% polypropylene for maximum strength and resistance to water, wear and UV exposure. Its technical look makes it ideal for sports bags, outdoor equipment, backpacks and industrial applications. Lightweight and colourfast.

Polypropylene Belt Webbing 40mm

Frequently Asked Questions about Belt Webbing

What is the difference between cotton belt webbing and polypropylene belt webbing?

Cotton belt webbing (90% cotton, 10% polyamide) is soft, has a natural look and is ideal for fashion bags and eco-friendly projects. Polypropylene belt webbing (100% PP) is more robust, water-resistant and more wear-resistant — the best choice for sports, outdoor and technical applications where maximum strength is required.

Which width of belt webbing do I need?

25mm is the most popular width for handbag handles, shoulder straps and keychains. 40mm is wider and stronger — ideal for backpack straps, wide belts and applications where the webbing is also visibly decorative. As a rule of thumb: the heavier the load, the wider the webbing should be.

How much belt webbing do I need per bag?

For a standard shoulder bag with two handles of 35 cm each, you need approximately 80–90 cm including sewing overlap. For a backpack with two carrying straps of 60 cm each plus a hip belt, you will quickly need 2–3 metres. Always order 10–15% extra for seams and finishing.

Can I order belt webbing by the metre?

Yes. Belt webbing is available by the metre — with a minimum order quantity of 0.5 metres. For the lowest price per metre, order a full roll of 50 metres; the wholesale price will be applied automatically in the shopping cart.

Is polypropylene belt webbing water-resistant?

Yes. Polypropylene (PP) does not absorb moisture and dries quickly — ideal for sports bags, beach bags and outdoor equipment that may get wet. Cotton belt webbing absorbs moisture but also dries relatively quickly and remains strong after washing.

How do I sew belt webbing in place?

Use a jeans needle or universal needle size 90–100 and strong polyester thread. Sew belt webbing in place with a rectangular stitch and diagonal reinforcement, also known as a “box X” stitch, for maximum tensile strength. With polypropylene belt webbing, you can briefly heat-seal the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying.

Our belt webbing is available in more than 15 colours, including black, white, natural, navy blue, cobalt, green, red, orange, pink and grey. The exact colour options per variant can be found on the product page. 

Do you offer wholesale prices for belt webbing?
