What is this material

This extra strong sewing thread is often compared to traditional buttonhole thread, which was originally made from linen. The main difference lies in durability: while linen thread can rot or weaken over time, this polyester thread stays solid and dependable. The yarn is smooth, lightly lustrous, and glides effortlessly through the needle and heavier fabric layers. Thanks to the tight twist of the fibers, this thread withstands significant pulling force, making it right for seams that take real strain. Gütermann has built a reputation over decades for consistent quality, and you notice that straight away in the even weight and color depth of this spool.

Uses

This extra strong thread is the right choice for projects where your seams really need to hold up. Think about:

• Stitching leather bags and wallets
• Securing straps and buckles
• Sewing heavy denim or canvas
• Reinforcing buttons and buttonholes
• Mending tent fabric, sailcloth, or outdoor textiles
• Upholstery and cushions under stress
• Strengthening backpacks and travel bags
• Decorative topstitching that needs to stay visible and strong
