How the blackout effect works

The light blocking quality of this fabric comes from a black thread woven directly into the core of the material, a technique known as three-pass weaving. This extra layer makes the fabric thicker and allows it to absorb light rather than let it pass through. The result is a light blocking effect of roughly 70 to 90%, depending on the depth of the outer colour and the density of the weave. Because the black thread sits hidden in the middle layer, both sides of the fabric keep the same light camel colour and finish, so you can use either side facing the room without any visible difference.
