Rib Knit Jersey Fabric - Butterflies

Against a soft, broken white background, small butterflies flutter in nude pink and salmon tones, each one drawn with fine lines that look almost real. The ribbed texture of this jersey gives the fabric extra depth and a subtle sheen, without being flashy. This butterfly fabric works beautifully for soft, feminine projects where you still want to add something refined. The print is delicate and spread out, so even with smaller pattern pieces you'll always have a nice butterfly in view.

What makes this rib jersey special

This quality uses combed, compact yarn in Ne 30/1, a fine and evenly spun cotton yarn that creates a smooth, sleek surface without rough fuzz. That smoothness is exactly what makes this fabric so right for digital printing: the ink soaks in evenly and the butterflies come through sharp and detailed, right down to the thin lines in the wings. The ribbed structure, created using drop needle knit technique, gives the fabric body and a subtle texture you can both feel and see. Combined with the elastane, you get a fabric that moves with you in every direction while keeping its shape. The result is a fabric that looks polished and luxe, but works beautifully in real life.

These butterfly fabrics combine a sweet look with the functionality of a true rib jersey, so you can make just about anything.

What is Compact Yarn?
Compact Yarn is a type of yarn that is produced using a compact spinning method, which is a newer and advanced spinning technique developed in the late 20th century. Compact yarns are yarns with a special spinning technique, where the fibers are twisted into a very small twisting triangle, which eliminates fibers. This new yarn structure gives compact yarns better strength, better stretch, and less hairiness compared to conventional ring-spun yarns.

In the compact spinning process, the fibers are twisted and drawn simultaneously, which reduces the amount of hairiness and fiber protrusion from the yarn. This results in a smoother and more even yarn with fewer fiber ends protruding from the surface. Compact yarn (highly twisted) also pills less than loose yarn (with low twist).

Compact yarn is used in various textile applications, including high-quality knitwear, fine woven fabrics, and denim fabrics. It is often made from long staple fibers such as cotton, wool, and silk, but can also be made from synthetic fibers.
