What is panne velvet

Panne velvet, also called velour de panne, is a pile fabric where the loops are cut after weaving and then pressed flat to create a shiny, smooth surface. That pressing is what creates the signature light-play effect: run your hand across the fabric and the colour shifts subtly from deep red to a softer shade, depending on which direction the pile lies. This red velvet is made from polyester, which gives it a beautiful sheen, durability and pleasant stretch across the width. The crushed finish adds extra liveliness and depth to the colour without making the fabric see-through.
