What is this material

Cotton gingham poplin is a plain weave fabric made from mercerised cotton, which gives the yarn a soft silky sheen and a smooth, slightly crisp finish. The mercerising process also makes the colours look richer and helps the fabric hold its shape wash after wash. It has a light weight and a medium drape, so it moves nicely without feeling flimsy, and it stays breathable even in warmer seasons. Being a natural fibre fabric, it is comfortable against the skin and easy to sew with a standard universal needle.
