Rib Knit Jersey Fabric - Little Daisy Beige

This rib knit jersey brings a soft, warm beige base scattered with tiny white daisies and delicate brown and olive green leaf sprigs. • Weight: 230 Gram/m2
  • Stretchability: 4-way-stretch

What makes this rib knit special

A rib knit jersey is knitted with a drop needle technique, which creates those characteristic fine vertical ribs running through the fabric. That structure gives it more body than a regular jersey, while the compact yarn keeps the surface smooth and even. Combined with lycra, the fabric stretches in every direction and bounces back to shape, which makes it comfortable to wear and easy to work with on a sewing machine or overlock. The floral print is applied with a digital printing method, part of our rib knit digital print range, so the little daisies and leaves stay crisp and true to color wash after wash.

Projects and uses

This beige little daisy rib knit works well for garments that need a bit of structure and stretch at the same time. The soft print makes it a nice pick for both everyday basics and more feminine pieces.

What is Compact Yarn?
Compact Yarn is a type of yarn that is produced using a compact spinning method, which is a newer and advanced spinning technique developed in the late 20th century. Compact yarns are yarns with a special spinning technique, where the fibers are twisted into a very small twisting triangle, which eliminates fibers. This new yarn structure gives compact yarns better strength, better stretch, and less hairiness compared to conventional ring-spun yarns.

In the compact spinning process, the fibers are twisted and drawn simultaneously, which reduces the amount of hairiness and fiber protrusion from the yarn. This results in a smoother and more even yarn with fewer fiber ends protruding from the surface. Compact yarn (highly twisted) also pills less than loose yarn (with low twist).

Compact yarn is used in various textile applications, including high-quality knitwear, fine woven fabrics, and denim fabrics. It is often made from long staple fibers such as cotton, wool, and silk, but can also be made from synthetic fibers.
