Product details
Polyester Filling 1000 Gram is a soft, fluffy loose filling made from 100% polyester — ideal for filling and topping up cushions, soft toys, dolls, pouffes and decorative pillows. The loose fibre structure creates an airy, resilient filling that keeps its shape well after use and washing.
Unlike polyester wadding rolls — which are sold by the metre as a compressed layer for quilts and quilted clothing — this filling is loose and fluffy. This makes it perfect for projects where you want to distribute the filling freely and adjust it to your liking. Is a cushion a little too flat? A soft toy losing its shape? With this pillow stuffing, you always have filling on hand for quick repairs or new projects.
The pack contains 1000 grams of loose filling fibres — more than enough for several cushions, a larger pouffe or a generous supply for your sewing room or hobby space. The polyester composition makes the filling washable, non-allergenic and suitable for both decorative and functional applications.

Benefits of Polyester Filling
Polyester filling offers several important advantages compared with natural fillings such as down or kapok:
- Non-allergenic: suitable for people with allergies to down, feathers or wool — no dust mites
- Washable at 40°C: hygienic and easy to maintain
- Resilient: bounces back after use and retains its airy structure
- Lightweight: makes cushions and soft toys soft without making them unnecessarily heavy
- Durable: long-lasting without clumping or sagging
- Safe for children: suitable for toys and soft toys
Loose Filling or Wadding by the Metre?
Choose loose filling when you want to fill a cushion shape, stuff a soft toy or top up an existing cushion. The loose structure allows you to distribute the filling exactly where you need it.
Choose polyester wadding by the metre when you need an even filling layer for quilts, quilted jackets or bags. The compressed rolls provide an even thickness across the full width — ideal for sewing projects where consistency is important. Frequently Asked Questions about Fiberfill and Pillow Filling
What is fiberfill and what is it used for?
Fiberfill is a soft filling made from fine polyester fibres, also known as polyester wadding or pillow filling. It is used as stuffing for cushions, soft toys and pouffes, and as insulating interlining in quilts, quilted clothing and bags.
What is the difference between loose filling and rolls by the metre?
Loose filling, supplied in a 1000 gram bag, consists of fluffy filling fibres and is ideal for filling or topping up cushions, soft toys and pouffes. The rolls are compressed wadding in fixed thicknesses sold by the metre — designed as an even filling layer for quilts, quilted jackets and bags.
Which thickness do I need for my project?
That depends on the result you want to achieve. Use 60–100 gram/m² for lightly quilted clothing and bags, 100–200 gram/m² for cushions and decorative pillows, 200–300 gram/m² for warm blankets and throws, and 300–400 gram/m² for heavy insulation and sleeping bags.
Can I wash fiberfill?
Yes, polyester fiberfill is machine washable at 40°C with a mild detergent. The filling dries quickly and keeps its shape well after washing. Preferably wash the finished item inside out so the filling stays in place.
Is fiberfill suitable for people with allergies?
Yes, polyester fiberfill is non-allergenic and an excellent alternative for people with allergies to down, feathers or wool. The synthetic fibres do not harbour dust mites and are hygienic and easy to wash.
How do I work with polyester wadding?
Polyester wadding is easy to cut with sharp scissors or a rotary cutter. Sew with a universal needle size 80–90 on your domestic sewing machine. For thicker versions (300–400 gram/m²), a jeans or leather needle can be useful for smoother feeding.
Can I use polyester wadding as interlining in clothing?
Yes, polyester wadding is widely used as batting or interlining in quilts, quilted jackets, gilets and bags. The lighter versions (60–100 gram/m²) are most suitable for clothing and bags. The heavier versions (200–400 gram/m²) provide more insulation and warmth for blankets and outerwear.
How many metres do I need for a cushion?
For a standard decorative cushion of 50×50cm, you need approximately 0.6 metres at 200 gram/m². For thicker filling or larger cushions, calculate more. When in doubt, always order a little extra — fiberfill is affordable by the metre, and running short halfway through is a shame.
