Gütermann Atelier Thread MARA 120 Butter Yellow 1000M (007)

This spool shows a soft, creamy yellow with just a touch of warmth, more buttery than bright, which is exactly what gives it that lovely name. The photo reveals a gentle sheen running along the thread, typical of the silky finish this Gütermann range is known for. Wound tightly onto a large cone, it has that neat, professional look you want from atelier-grade thread, ready to feed smoothly through your machine without fuss.

What makes this thread special

Mara 120 is built with Micro Core Technology, meaning a strong core fibre is wrapped with finer filaments for a thread that combines strength with a smooth, silky surface. This construction keeps lint production low, which your machine and tension discs will thank you for over long sewing sessions. The 100% polyester composition gives it good resistance to UV light and moisture, so seams stay strong even after repeated washing. It is a universal weight, fine enough for detailed topstitching yet sturdy enough for everyday seams. The finish also reduces friction as the thread passes through the needle, which helps prevent breakage during long runs.

Projects and applications

This Butter Yellow shade works beautifully whenever you want a warm, soft accent rather than a stark bright yellow. Think of it for:

• Sewing garments in pastel or cream fabrics where the thread should blend in gently
• Quilting projects that call for a warm, inviting tone
• Topstitching on children's wear or summer clothing
• Overlocking and finishing seams on lightweight cottons and linens
• Home decor items like cushions, curtains or table linens
• Patchwork pieces where a soft yellow ties different fabrics together
• Mending and alterations where a close colour match matters
• Craft and hobby sewing, from bags to small accessories
