Curly teddy, sometimes called bouclé fleece or sherpa, is a knitted polyester fabric with a looped, textured pile on one or both sides. The loops are tightly packed, which gives the surface its characteristic curly appearance and that cosy, tactile quality people reach for in autumn and winter projects. At 210 gram/m2 it has a good weight without being bulky, so it drapes reasonably well for a pile fabric. Because it is polyester, it resists pilling better than many natural alternatives and holds its shape after washing.
