Lightweight Lurex Glitter Jersey Fabric Dark Red

Lightweight Lurex Glitter Jersey Fabric Dark Red

This glitter jersey catches the light in every fold of the fabric, with a deep dark red that shifts into almost black shadows where the material falls. The lurex thread creates thousands of tiny sparkles that shimmer with every movement, just like you can see in the soft draping on the photos. It's a fabric with character, made for anyone who wants to stand out without sacrificing comfort or fluidity.

What is this glitter jersey fabric

This is a fine single jersey knit with a glitter finish, where lurex yarn is woven throughout the fiber for a lasting sheen that won't shed or flake the way loose glitter can. The base is a synthetic fiber that gives the fabric a smooth drape and light stretch across the width, allowing it to fold easily around the body. The weight is light, making it suitable for layering and garments that shouldn't stiffen. The open knit structure means the fabric is slightly see-through, something to keep in mind when cutting. The shine and dark red color palette give the fabric a festive, almost theatrical look that changes with every light source.

Uses and Projects

This glitter jersey is made for projects where a bit of sparkle is wanted. Think of:

• Party dresses and cocktail dresses
• Tops with subtle shimmer
• Dance outfits for performances and competitions
• Stage costumes and theatrical clothing
• Evening wear for galas and celebrations
• Carnival costumes with a luxury feel
• Accents or inserts combined with solid fabrics
• Scarves or headscarves for a festive accessory

Things to watch for when sewing

Because the fabric is slightly see-through, we recommend lining any garments you make with it. This prevents too much visibility and also gives better drape to the finished piece. Use a stretch needle and sew carefully so you don't damage the lurex threads while stitching.

Conclusion

With its deep color and fine shine, this fabric is a great choice for anyone wanting to add a touch of glamour to a sewing project. Check out more shimmering options in our jersey glitter fabric collection or explore the full range of jersey fabrics at Rijs Textiles.
