What exactly is interlock jersey

Interlock is a knit fabric made differently than the regular single jersey you probably know. With interlock, two rows of needles work at the same time, so two layers of jersey are actually knitted into each other to form one whole. That explains the meaning behind the name right away: the layers "interlock" with each other literally. The result is a thicker, sturdier fabric that looks the same smooth on both sides, unlike single jersey which has a clear front and back. This construction makes interlock less stretchy across the width than regular jersey, but very stable and shape-holding.

Interlock cotton versus single jersey with elastane

Many people notice that clothing with elastane doesn't feel nice on the skin, especially for longer wear. The synthetic fiber in elastane traps heat and sweat, which can feel clammy or stuffy, especially for children's clothes or sleepwear.
