Mercerized Cotton Poplin, 150 cm Wide

Our core poplin is 100% mercerized cotton. Mercerizing is a finishing process where the fibres are treated with an alkaline solution under tension, which tightens the weave and gives the yarn a slight sheen. The result is a fabric with better colour retention and a bit more strength than untreated cotton. At 125 grams per square metre and 150 cm wide, it sits in the lighter to mid-weight range, comfortable against the skin and easy to press with a normal iron setting.

Colours and Prints

The plain poplin comes in more than 40 colours, from muted neutrals to saturated brights, so you can plan a whole outfit or a set of matching accessories from one roll. There's also a dedicated children's print line with playful motifs, aimed at kids' clothing and small accessories rather than adult wear. If you're after a similar handle in a heavier weight or with a shinier finish, satin fabric or panne velvet fabric are worth comparing for contrast pieces or linings.
