Terry Fabric by the Metre
Terry fabric is the soft, absorbent material behind every good towel and bathrobe. Its looped pile structure, small loops of yarn on one or both sides, soaks up moisture fast and dries quickly afterwards. We stock terry fabric in cotton, bamboo and blended qualities, sold by the metre and suitable for both home sewing projects and business orders. Whether you're making towels, robes or spa accessories, you'll find a weight and composition that fits.
Cotton Terry Cloth
This is the classic choice: 100% cotton, 150 cm wide, 350 grams per square metre. Grammage this high means a dense, absorbent pile that holds up to daily washing without losing its softness. Cotton terry works well against skin, which is why it's the standard for bath towels, robes and kitchen textiles. You'll find the full range in our Terry Cloth Cotton category, including options for both hobby sewers and businesses ordering in bulk.
Bamboo Terry Cloth
A blend of 90% bamboo and 10% polyester, also 150 cm wide at 350 grams/m². Bamboo fibres are naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, which makes this fabric a sensible pick for sensitive skin. The small polyester share adds durability and keeps wrinkling down. Bamboo terry also has a slight natural sheen and a cooling feel, useful in warmer climates or for people who run hot at night. See the range in our Bamboo Terry Fabric category.
Double Touch Bamboo Terry Cloth
This variant combines bamboo, cotton and polyester in a 40/40/20 mix, at 150 cm width and 320 grams/m², slightly lighter than the pure cotton or bamboo options. The result is a fabric with a soft, almost velvety hand feel on one side, useful for premium bathrobes, spa towels and gift-quality bath accessories where look and feel matter as much as function. Check the Double Touch Bamboo Terry Fabric category for details.
Buying Terry Fabric: by the Metre or by the Roll
All our terry fabrics are sold by the metre, the standard way to buy fabric where you pay per running metre at 150 cm width. Wholesale customers can also order a 50-metre roll. Note that rolls ship on a pallet only, which falls outside our regular shipping rates and costs. For smaller orders, six metres is the minimum for wholesale pricing, while individual customers can order any length above that threshold. Not sure which quality suits your project? Order a fabric sample before committing to a larger cut.
Terry Fabric for Every Project
Terry cloth's looped structure makes it the go-to fabric for anything that needs to absorb water: bath towels, hand towels, robes, cleaning cloths and baby items. Cotton terry suits everyday use and heavy washing cycles. Bamboo and its blends fit more premium or sensitive-skin applications. All three come from stock in Tilburg, ready for quick dispatch whether you're a small studio or a business buying in volume.
Terry Fabric, Ready to Order
Terry fabric remains a practical choice for anyone sewing towels, robes or bath accessories, cotton for durability, bamboo for softness and skin comfort. With three qualities in stock, by-the-metre pricing and wholesale rolls available, you can match the fabric to the project rather than the other way round. Browse the terry fabric collection and order a sample if you want to feel the difference before you buy.
What is terry cloth used for?
Terry cloth is mainly used for towels, bathrobes, washcloths and other absorbent textiles. Its looped pile soaks up moisture quickly, which is why it's the standard fabric for bathroom and spa items.
What's the difference between bamboo terry and cotton terry?
Cotton terry is more durable and handles frequent washing well, making it suited to everyday towels. Bamboo terry is softer, naturally antibacterial and better suited to sensitive skin, though it's often blended with a small amount of polyester for extra strength.
Can I order terry fabric by the roll?
Yes, a 50-metre roll is available for wholesale orders. Rolls ship on a pallet only, so shipping costs fall outside our standard rates.
What is the minimum order quantity for terry fabric?
Wholesale pricing starts at six metres. Individual customers can order any length above that, and a fabric sample is available if you want to check the quality first.
Is terry cloth suitable for bathrobes?
Yes, both our cotton and bamboo terry cloths are commonly used for bathrobes. Cotton at 350 grams/m² gives a durable, absorbent robe, while bamboo blends add extra softness against the skin.
